Symphony of Intimacies

Symphony of Intimacies

A chorus of bodies: Symphony of Intimacies – a film by the duo Nguyễn + Transitory – is a sound performance centred around vulnerability, mutual dependence, closeness, disorientation and trust as forms of collective resistance. Five performers and two musicians create sounds that arise through touch, live and in real time. Their bodies fuse with their instruments and conduct electrical currents into a modular synthesizer. Touch is integral to the composition and performance process, and becomes an instrument in and of itself. This dynamic dissolves classical hierarchies in the director-composer-performer constellation and shifts the relationship between these roles towards the collective.

The film Symphony of Intimacies documents Nguyễn + Transitory’s ongoing working process, which the duo embarked upon in 2018 with the immersive-installative sound performance Bird Bird, Touch Touch, Sing Sing. They created a musical architecture that is site-specific, structure-dependent and based on touch. In April 2022, they present the work live at Radialsystem as part of the programme series SENSE – Geografien der Wahrnehmung (Geographies of Perception).
